PROJECT OVERVIEW
The UPPAbaby All-Terrain Wheels were designed to expand the stroller’s capability on challenging surfaces such as snow, cobblestone, and uneven terrain. Within the constraints of keeping the existing rims, wheel width, and overall geometry, I focused on creating a tread pattern that would meaningfully improve performance without altering core components. The design features deep, sculpted grooves for enhanced grip and control, balanced with a raised center strip that reduces vibration so families don’t feel every ridge beneath them. This allowed us to deliver smoother handling and better traction while preserving compatibility with the Vista, Vista V2, and Vista V3 strollers.
The tread was developed to feel distinctly UPPAbaby; maintaining brand identity while introducing a custom performance-oriented pattern unique to this accessory. Material tuning was another key part of elevating performance. Because the wheels are solid polyurethane and never air-filled, we worked to slightly soften the PU compound to better absorb impact and provide a more cushioned ride. Paired with intuitive, no-tools attachment, durable PU construction, and a tote-style storage bag for easy transport, the final design offers families a reliable, quick-swap solution for navigating tougher terrain with confidence.
